Yusen Logistics Joins Korean Air’s Cargo Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program

Japanese global supply chain logistics company Yusen Logistics is partnering with Korean Air to bolster the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Asian markets.

The Cargo SAF Program is one of Korean Air’s initiatives to promote the use of SAF in collaboration with shippers and forwarders to achieve the aviation industry’s net-zero emission goal.

Korean Air initiated this program in September 2023 and implemented a variety of mitigation measures, including collaboration with governments, fuel suppliers and aircraft manufacturers.

Yusen Logistics concluded a contract with Korean Air for 2024, aiming to support its customers’ sustainability goals through the “Yusen Book-and-Claim” service and spur more demand for SAF.

Aligning with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Yusen Logistics announced in November 2023 a medium-term target of reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 45% by 2030, focusing primarily on Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Further strengthening collaboration with airlines and expanding its global network utilizing SAF, Yusen said it will continue to meet the increasing demand for SAF.
